CHEMICAL PEELS

Peels Bring a Luminous Glow to Your Face

CHEMICAL PEEL

The chemical peel is a procedure used to improve the appearance of the skin on the face, neck, hands & feet. A chemical solution is applied to the skin that causes it to exfoliate and eventually peel off. The new, regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin. The new skin is also temporarily more sensitive to the sun. Light-haired and fair-skinned people are the best candidates for a chemical peel.

What can chemical peels treat?

● Crow’s feet

We strongly instruct you to wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF 30 (minimum) or higher to prevent photodamage and uphold the results of your treatment.

Are chemical peels painful?

Chemical peels sting but do not cause a great deal of pain. They may cause stinging, redness, irritation and crusting but as the skin begins to adjust all these problems will lessen and use of creams and gels will reduce these effects. Also, the skin care specialist may prescribe products that will help relieve the problems after the peel.

Combine chemical peels with microdermabrasion

A chemical peel can be combined with Dermabrasion to help achieve the desired results. Chemical peels are applied to the skin so that there will be a “blistering” effect and the skin will peel off. When coupled together with a chemical peel, the effects of peel are enhanced. Microdermabrasion will take care of the topmost layer of your skin, and the chemical peel will further permeate your skin.

The effects of both will not only get rid of skin imperfections, but also soften deep wrinkles, and get rid of acne scarring.

Microdermabrasion is immeasurably beneficial to maximize the effects of further treatments. The deep exfoliation permits deeper penetration of products and maximizes the benefits from the next treatment.

(Please note, During the client consultation, we carefully determine the sensitivity of client’s skin before combining microdermabrasion. At Sheen Med Spa, we know how important it is to provide the client consultation on skin condition, as this is your guide to suitable aftercare products and possible complementary treatments.)

Salicylic Acid is a Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) with capacity for deep pore penetration that makes it an excellent choice for those prone to mild and moderate acne vulgaris. Dead skin and debris can plug the delicate pore resulting in blackheads, whiteheads, and acne eruptions. Salicylic Acid’s winning combination of antiseptic and exfoliating properties promotes a clear, healthy complexion!

A Salicylic Acid Peel will begin to purge clogged pores even after the first peel. As a result, acne breakouts may temporarily heighten. Nevertheless, the pore purification process should ultimately improve acne conditions and provide a clear path to beautiful skin! Salicylic Acid peels also provide marked improvements in skin tone, texture, and clarity.

Salicylic peeling process

With the use of this peeling solution, your skin may become red and take on a frosting appearance during application. In some cases, the skin will have a temporary numbing effect. Breakouts may also occur after peeling. This reaction is normal and the breakout is due to the pores cleansing and bringing debris to the surface. Your skin should begin to balance out within a few weeks, leading to clearer and less oily skin.
